The Challenge

Vision Care is a small but long established charity that brings essential eye care to people experiencing homelessness. After twenty three years of growth and change, the organisation had recently restructured its Executive Team and was preparing to launch a new strategy.

The team works entirely remotely and partners closely with the Specsavers Homelessness Team, led by Jo Osborne. Specsavers provide significant support, so the relationship between the two organisations is central to delivering real impact on the ground.

Both teams wanted to communicate more clearly, collaborate more smoothly and speak a shared language. The goal was simple. Help the Executive Team work at a higher level and strengthen the way Vision Care and Specsavers work together every day.

Our Approach

We designed a session that focused on real behaviour, real communication and real partnership.

Every member of the Executive Team completed their Insights Discovery profile ahead of the session. This gave us a solid foundation to explore how each person prefers to communicate, make decisions and build relationships. For a fully remote team, this clarity is even more important.

During the workshop we explored:

How the team works together

We looked at the strengths, pressure points and working preferences across the Executive Team. This helped the group understand how their newly formed team could make the most of its collective strengths as they launched their new strategy.

How the partnership works

We examined the day to day collaboration between Vision Care and the Specsavers Homelessness Team. The aim was to help both sides talk the same language, understand each other’s intentions and reduce any unspoken friction that can appear when two separate organisations come together with a shared purpose.

Practical tools for remote teamwork

With no central office, Vision Care rely on clear communication and strong personal relationships to keep things moving. We focused on simple actions that would help them keep conversations open, stay aligned and make decisions with more ease.

The Results

The session created a stronger sense of connection across both organisations. The Executive Team gained a clearer understanding of themselves and each other, which is especially valuable in a team that has recently been restructured and works entirely remotely.

They left with:

  • A shared language to support better conversations
  • A clearer view of the strengths across the Executive Team
  • Better understanding of how to collaborate with the Specsavers Homelessness Team
  • Practical actions to help them work more effectively in a remote environment
  • Renewed confidence as they launched their new strategy

Most importantly, the day helped Vision Care and the Specsavers Homelessness Team move forward with a deeper appreciation of each other’s intentions and a stronger foundation for their partnership.
