Insights Accreditation Snapshot

Why Accreditation Matters

Accreditation turns a great experience into something consistent and repeatable.

It gives you a shared framework, language and approach that can be used across teams, projects and leadership levels, helping Insights show up in everyday conversations, not just one-off sessions.

Rather than relying on external delivery, you build the confidence to run sessions, support your people and keep the learning alive over time.

Insights Discovery® Accreditation FAQs

Thinking about becoming an accredited Insights Discovery® practitioner? These are some of the questions we are most often asked about what the accreditation involves, what happens afterwards and how to make the most of it inside your organisation.

Before the Accreditation

What is Insights Discovery® Accreditation and what does it allow me to do?

Insights Discovery® Accreditation is the programme that trains you to become an Insights Discovery® practitioner, so you can use Insights Discovery® as part of learning, coaching and facilitation in your organisation.

The current programme involves four days of practical learning covering the theory behind Insights Discovery®, preparing to deliver it, facilitation and applying Insights to real organisational challenges.

At JTL, we think it is useful to distinguish between becoming accredited and becoming a really effective practitioner. The accreditation gives you the foundations, tools and licence to work with Insights Discovery®. Your capability then continues to develop as you start applying it with real people, teams and business challenges.

Accreditation can make sense for organisations that want to build their own internal Insights Discovery® capability rather than relying entirely on external practitioners.

Insights works with practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds, including L&D and HR professionals, coaches, consultants, people leaders and change professionals.

You don’t necessarily need to be a career trainer. In fact, one of the advantages of an internal practitioner is the organisational knowledge they already bring: they understand the people, culture, language and challenges of their business.

The strongest practitioners don’t simply teach the colour energies. They use Insights to help people have better conversations about real work.

The current Insights Discovery® Accreditation programme takes four days and is available either live online or face to face.

The four days cover Insights Discovery® theory, preparing to deliver Insights, delivering with Insights and applying Insights Discovery®.

There is also work to complete as part of becoming officially accredited, so it is worth thinking of accreditation as a learning process rather than simply attending a four-day course.

Both virtual and face-to-face accreditation cover the core learning required, so the best choice is usually the environment in which you learn most effectively.

Face-to-face accreditation can be particularly valuable if you enjoy learning alongside others, informal conversations and networking with fellow HR, L&D and training professionals.

Virtual accreditation can work extremely well if you value convenience, reduced travel and learning from your own environment.

At JTL, our advice is to choose based on how you learn best, rather than assuming one format will make you a better practitioner.

What matters much more is what you do with the accreditation afterwards.

No. Insights Discovery® practitioners come from a range of backgrounds, including L&D, HR, coaching, consulting, leadership and organisational change.

Facilitation experience can certainly help, but your knowledge of your own organisation can be equally valuable.

The accreditation gives you the foundation for working with Insights Discovery®. Your own expertise helps you make that learning relevant to the people and challenges in your business.

If you are relatively new to facilitation, you may simply want more support and practice as you prepare to run your first few sessions.

It can be, but it depends on how extensively you want to use Insights Discovery®.

If you are planning to use Insights regularly across your organisation, having an internal accredited practitioner can help you build capability, run refresh activity and integrate Insights into wider leadership, team and organisational development.

There can still be a role for an experienced external practitioner. You may want external support for senior teams, particularly challenging team situations, large programmes or simply to bring an independent perspective.

At JTL, we don’t see this as necessarily internal versus external. For some organisations, the strongest approach is a combination: build internal capability for everyday application and bring in specialist external expertise when it adds value.

During the Accreditation

What happens during the four days of Insights Discovery® Accreditation?

The programme is structured around four stages:

Day 1 – Insights Discovery® Theory
Understanding the model and its foundations.

Day 2 – Preparing to Deliver Insights Discovery®
Developing your understanding of how to introduce and work with Insights.

Day 3 – Delivering with Insights Discovery®
Practising facilitation and working with the Insights Discovery® Personal Profile.

Day 4 – Applying Insights Discovery®
Exploring how to use Insights with individuals, teams and organisational challenges.

The emphasis is not simply on understanding the model. You also have opportunities to practise using it.

Insights provides a substantial set of practitioner materials as part of the accreditation.

Current accreditation information includes a complete materials kit, your own five-chapter Insights Discovery® Personal Profile and three practice profiles that can be used to develop your profile coaching skills.

Accredited practitioners also have access to Insights Connections, which provides further learning and workshop resources.

One piece of advice we give new practitioners is: don’t feel you have to use everything at once.

Accreditation gives you a toolkit. Becoming an effective practitioner is partly about learning which tools to use, with which audience and for what purpose.

No. You don’t have to start with a blank sheet of paper. Insights provides accredited practitioners with materials and learning content that give you a strong foundation for delivery.

In practice, you will probably adapt how you use those resources as your confidence and experience grow.

A senior leadership team may need something very different from a newly formed operational team. A 90-minute introduction needs a different design from a full-day team-effectiveness workshop.

At JTL, we have delivered more than 1,500 workshops, and one thing that experience has taught us is that the best Insights session isn’t necessarily the one containing the most Insights content.

It’s the one that uses Insights to help that particular group address something that matters to them.

The materials give you the toolkit. Your job as a practitioner is to decide how best to use it.

After the Accreditation

Can I start delivering Insights Discovery® straight after the accreditation course?

You can start putting your Insights Discovery® learning into practice very quickly, but completing the four-day programme is not necessarily the final administrative step in becoming fully accredited.

Insights currently requires delegates to complete post-course work as part of becoming officially accredited. Its current accreditation information confirms that there is work to complete after the four-day programme, and its post-accreditation resources state that the Confirmation of Learning must be completed within six weeks.

From our experience at JTL, however, the bigger practical question is often not simply “Can I deliver?” but “What am I going to deliver?”

You leave with a significant amount of knowledge and material. The next step is working out how to turn that into something appropriate for your organisation – perhaps a 90-minute introduction, a half-day workshop, a full-day team session or part of a wider leadership programme.

That’s where accreditation turns into application.

Support doesn’t stop when the four-day programme finishes.

Insights provides accredited practitioners with ongoing resources and development, including access to Insights Connections, its practitioner community and further learning opportunities.

JTL can provide an additional, practical layer of support as you start applying Insights inside your organisation.

That might include reviewing your first session plan, talking through a slide deck, helping you design different workshop formats, considering refresh activity or thinking about how Insights can support wider leadership and team-development priorities.

In our experience, the biggest challenge often isn’t understanding Insights. It’s translating everything you’ve learned into something that works in your particular organisation.

That’s where having an experienced practitioner to talk things through with can be particularly useful.

Insights Discovery® can be used for much more than an introductory colour-energy workshop.

Depending on your organisational needs, it can provide a useful lens for areas including team effectiveness, communication, leadership, change, collaboration and personal effectiveness.

At JTL, we believe the important question isn’t simply “What Insights content could I deliver?”

A better question is:

“What is happening in this organisation or team that we want to improve – and how could Insights help us?”

That shift matters. Insights becomes much more powerful when it is connected to a real business or people challenge rather than treated as a standalone personality workshop.

A lot.

Accreditation gives you the foundations for using Insights Discovery® effectively, but your understanding of the organisation, its people and the wider learning context is an important part of making it relevant.

As your experience develops, you will increasingly learn how to combine Insights with your own knowledge of leadership, teams, change, communication or other areas of organisational development.

The aim isn’t to change the Insights Discovery® model. It is to use it intelligently in the context in which people actually work.

Insights gives you a common language. Your practitioner skill helps people use that language to have better conversations.

There are ongoing costs associated with using Insights Discovery® after accreditation, particularly when generating new Insights Discovery® Personal Profiles. There are also optional practitioner resources and materials that organisations may choose to purchase.

We recommend being clear about these costs before accreditation so you can understand the likely ongoing investment based on how extensively you plan to use Insights within your organisation.

Organisations using Insights can manage profiles and related information through the relevant Insights customer systems, making it easier for internal practitioners to generate and manage profiles as their use of Insights develops.

If your organisation already has existing Insights Discovery® profiles, it may be possible to bring these together within your organisational account or portal.

This is particularly worth discussing before accreditation if your organisation already has a substantial number of existing Insights Discovery® profiles.

The real value comes from putting Insights into practice: running sessions, having profile conversations, supporting managers, revisiting team learning and using the language to help people work together more effectively.

One-off workshops can be valuable, but the greater opportunity comes when Insights becomes part of how an organisation talks about communication, leadership, teamwork and relationships.

Our advice to new practitioners is simple:

Start using it. Keep learning. Make it relevant to the real challenges in your organisation.

You don’t need to create the perfect Insights programme on day one.

Your capability as a practitioner will grow through application.
