Solitude matters; for some people, it’s in the air they breathe

Susan Cain

Jemma Black is a business and brand strategist working with game-changing women. She mentors female entrepreneurs to help them be clear and confident in their brands and make a more significant impact. While, at the same time, remaining true to themselves. As an introvert, she knows how difficult it can be for women to follow their dreams.

“My biggest struggle was getting visible and putting myself out there when I would have been much happier working away by myself, but I knew I had to do it, so I set small achievable goals. This, in time, stretched me and increased my confidence”

Power Hour

She used a method called ‘Power Hour’ each day. She would spend that time each day marketing and engaging with people online. This helped her to maintain visibility without feeling she had to be seen all the time. She usually had the hour mid-morning when she felt most energised.

“I learned the hard way. For too long, I tried to copy how other people in my industry ran their businesses, but I soon found it didn’t work because they were unnatural to me. You have to find your niche. Then follow your own path.”

An Introvert has Excellent Strengths

They listen carefully and are constantly learning from other people. They tend to be close observers and quietly work out specific solutions for a business. They are deep thinkers, have empathy, and have the ability to listen — and augment these skills with a carefully monitored dose of extroversion. The introverts craft the business around themselves.
