The Nudge: The Colour Reset

If your team has attended an Insights Discovery workshop, this short exercise helps keep the learning alive in a practical, everyday way. The Colour Reset is a 15 to 25 minute team check in designed to help people reconnect with what helps them work well, notice a few watch outs, and agree simple ways of supporting each other.

This is not about setting goals or fixing problems. It is about working with intention, using the shared language you already have.

What This Helps With

  • Turning workshop awareness into everyday behaviour
  • Creating psychological safety through shared understanding
  • Reducing friction caused by different working styles
  • Helping teams start the year feeling clearer and more connected

Step by Step Guide

Preparation

  1. Ask participants to bring their Insights Discovery report.
  2. Optional pre-work: Ask participants to skim the sections listed below and highlight 3–5 statements that feel most true right now.

Key Report Sections to Use

  • Value to the Team (p10)
  • Effective Communications (p11)
  • Barriers to Effective Communication (p12)
  • Optional: Possible Blind Spots (p13)

Individual Reflection

Ask participants to review the sections above and reflect on the following questions. Encourage short, practical notes. (Can be done as prework to save time)

  1. When I’m at my best at work…
What conditions help me have a good day?
What strengths or contributions do others benefit from?
  2. One thing to watch out for…
What might I overdo when I’m under pressure?
What might others experience that I don’t always notice?
  3. One simple thing others can do to support me
“It really helps me if you…”
    “I work best when…”

Sharing

Get each person to share back their thoughts with the wider group if time or smaller breakout groups if needed.

Debrief

Discuss one or two of the following:

  • What patterns are we noticing across the team?
  • What would change if we acted on what we’ve heard?
  • What is one small (5%) adjustment we could make to better support each other?
